Joe Williams' remarkable smooth baritone voice was one of the wonders of jazz. Considered the last great big band singer, Williams single handedly revived the fortunes of the Count Basie Band when he joined them in 1954, and he quickly rose to become a star in his own right. Joe performs his best known and most loved songs in this concert including Everyday I Have The Blues. His definitive version of this classic recorded with Basie was placed in the Recording Industry's Hall of Fame. Williams repeatedly was chosen the top male jazz singer in readers' polls for Downbeat and other magazines and this concert was filmed shortly before his album Nothin' But The Blues won the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Performance in the 1980s.
